Enclosure, cardboard machine, DS Smith Packaging Sweden AB
DS Smith was having problems with a cardboard machine, whose noise levels exceeded the limit values for the industry. On site, accompanied by the customer, we inspected the machine and discussed where the problem was considered to be at its worst. One important aspect was to ensure that the soundproofing solution did not limit opportunities to access the machine in a variety of ways to take care of the manufacturing.
We returned to our offices and prepared a concept for how to enclose the machine, taking into account both the soundproofing requirements and good access for the operators.
After the customer had had the opportunity to study and comment on the concept, we discussed it further and came up with an adjusted solution featuring an updated concept.
We at HIAK always give high priority to including the customer’s views and opinions. The reason for this is that it helps us develop solutions that are not only acoustically appropriate, but also fully functional for the operators. The risk with badly thought-out and poorly planned solutions is that the operators will end up moving or dismantling any parts they consider to be obstacles to their work. And that naturally risks diminishing the effect of the soundproofing solution.
